DEI and Code of Conduct

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

The WACV community is strongly committed to addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at our conference.  Diversity has many dimensions, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, disabilities, religious belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and cultural background.  There is no place for hatred and discrimination in the WACV community or elsewhere.

The conference organizers express sincere concerns and sympathy over the ongoing wildfires in Hawaii. A good way to support the locals is to tip generously since that goes directly into their pockets and directly combats low wages.

For WACV 2024, the organizing committee would like to foster a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable conference.  Specifically, we will encourage the following:

  • Improve diversity and inclusion in workshop and tutorial organizers and invited speakers by including diversity, equity, and inclusivity as part of the evaluation criteria;
  • Encourage the submission of workshop and tutorial proposals that examine problems in equity, diversity, and inclusion from a technical perspective;
  • Support for students to attend WACV from communities that do not traditionally attend through travel grants and waived registration fees.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback related to DEI efforts at WACV 2024 or would like to get involved, please contact the DEI co-chairs by email at  WACV2024_dei@googlegroups.com.

It is the policy of WACV 2024  that all participants of conference activities (workshops, tutorials, exhibitions, poster sessions, etc) will enjoy a welcoming environment free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Harassment will not be tolerated in any form, including but not limited to harassment based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, age, religion or any other status protected by laws in which the conference or program is being held. Harassment includes the use of abusive, offensive or degrading language, intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sexual imagery and unwelcome sexual advances. Any report of harassment at one of our activities will be addressed immediately. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material in their booths and must refrain from the use of sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise creating a sexualized environment. Speakers should not use sexual language, images, or any language or images that would constitute harassment as defined above in their talks. Violations should be reported to the organizer of the activity. In the WACV 2024 sole discretion, unacceptable behavior may result in removal or denial of access to meeting facilities or activities and other penalties, without refund of any applicable registration fees or costs. In addition, violations may be reported to the individual’s employer. By registering for WACV 2024, all attendees and exhibitors agree to comply with these standards of behavior.
